Welcome Back

This month has greeted us with some great Midwest weather. Students have enjoyed being outside and enjoying fresh air at recess. The sunshine has provided a much needed break from the cold February we just had.

We have finished up another round of our ILEARN Checkpoints and we are seeing many breakthroughs for students thanks to the hard work of the staff in the building.

Be on the lookout for a parent teacher conference form to come home. This round is by invitation and/or requested by the parent. We are beginning to fine tune for the end of the year push and with Spring Break around the corner we want to make sure we can connect.

March Dates:

Book Fair: March 24-27

End of 3rd Grading Period: March 21

Parent Teacher Conferences: March 27

Volunteering/Visiting

Are you considering volunteering or visiting? If so, we want to make sure you are able to do so with no delay. If you are going to be in the building as a visitor for any reason we need you to do the following:

  • Visiting

    • Background Check (https://apps.raptortech.com/Apply/NTc1OTplbi1VUw==)

    • Bring Drivers Licensed (to be scanned)

  • Working with kids directly?

    • Review the MCS Anti-Bullying Training (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JPg6fAdmml4jbTV-iT5OZcqK7emGz5Gn/view?usp=sharing)

    • *plus both items from above*

Please contact Mr. Gaskill or Mr. Anglemyer if you have any questions regarding this process.

The students that attend Heritage Intermediate are our number one priority.  Their safety, education, and character are of utmost importance.  We look forward to seeing each student and family grow and learn this school year.  If you have any questions, please feel free to call Heritage at 574-822-5396.

Hello parents!

I am thrilled at how well our kids have incorporated Beanstack into their lives! It has spurned many wonderful conversations about books and reading with our students through the past few months of implementing it. My goal was always to encourage budding readers by giving them free choice of books and not to weigh them down with quizzes and tests. Quite a bit of research shows that there is great value in reading for fun, rather than adding another homework assignment!

As our Spring Into Reading challenge kicks off in March, I wanted to encourage you to join your kids in reading 400 minutes! The best way to turn reading into a lifelong habit is through our example as adults. One of the things I love the most about Beanstack has been “competing” with students and leading by example–they can see when I haven’t been meeting my goals! I promise that by the end of the month, you will be surprised and encouraged at the insights and excitement your young readers show you if you choose to take up the challenge.

Happy Reading!
