Admin Announcements

NHS Students and Families-

As we approach Spring Break, we want to take a moment to wish all of our students and families a restful and rejuvenating break. This time off is an excellent opportunity for students to recharge, and we encourage everyone to enjoy the well-deserved time away from school.

As we look ahead, please be sure to stay informed about important upcoming dates. We recommend checking our school website social media, or reaching out to school staff for any specific information you may need.

Additionally, we kindly remind students and families to continue staying on top of grades and missing assignments. The final grading period is fast approaching, and it's essential for students to review their assignments, complete any missing work, and reach out to teachers if they need assistance. Our staff is here to support all students in finishing the semester strong.

Thank you for your continued partnership. We wish you a relaxing and enjoyable Spring Break!

Counseling Corner

Seniors! Please be diligent about students checking their emails. They will continue to get important information about end of year activities, expectations, and future plans.

A few important reminders right now: The FAFSA deadline is approaching—April 15th! All seniors are expected to file the FAFSA. This will help navigate financial aid opportunities for post-secondary education.  If your post secondary plan does not require the FAFSA, please ask your school counselor about a required opt out form.

Also, please make plans to transfer your dual credit courses to your next higher ed institution. Instructions will be sent out soon. You will want to wait until the school year ends so that any courses you're enrolled in now would be included. If you are on track to earn the ICC, please reference the email from Mr. Maure about applying for graduation. This is the only way to complete the ICC and have it transferred.

Juniors! Your SAT scores from the school day test will be available through collegeboard and the Big Futures app on April 3rd. Be sure to check them out.

Job Fair

We are excited to invite students to our upcoming Job Fair on May 2 at Northridge High.  This event will connect students with local businesses offering work-based learning, seasonal, and full-time job opportunities. It’s a great chance to explore career paths, network with employers, and gain valuable experience.

Please encourage your child to attend and bring a resume if possible. For more details, students can stop by Room 123.

Prom Dresses

Do you have a gently used prom dress or bridesmaid gown just hanging in your closet? Consider donating it to help a student who cannot afford a prom dress! 💃✨

We are collecting dresses to ensure every student has the chance to shine on their special night. If you have a dress to give, please drop it off at Northridge High School.

For questions, contact Patty Mosness at Northridge High School.

Thank you for making a difference! 💕

Art Club

After our school wide testing day, NHS Art Club students were all on board with creating a de-stressing art session, open to all ages.  The theme for the event: Neurographic & Zentangle Art.  Those in attendance relaxed to music, conversed with friends, and created their own personalized artwork.
Next month, NHS Art Club will be hosting an egg decorating workshop on Saturday, April 19th.  Those interested will need to sign-up in advance…all are welcome to attend!  If you are able to help provide supplies for this event, please contact Ms. O’Dell.  We look forward to having you join us!

Art Field Trip

Each semester, the NHAS Art Department puts together an art field trip for students.  Our goal is to provide students with an opportunity to visit museums and artists in the real world, so they can see art in person as well as ways to continue learning their art concentration after high school.

This semester, students visited the Grand Rapids Museum of Art (GRAM) and Kendall College of Art and Design (KCAD).  GRAM offered both visual and hands-on opportunities for the students, while KCAD provided tours of both art buildings and a demonstration in their FLEXlab.

Attendance

We’d like to remind students and parents that early dismissals from school should only be requested for documented appointments. Please ensure that any medical, dental, or other appointments are accompanied by proper documentation when requesting an early release. This helps maintain the integrity of our attendance records and ensures a smooth process for everyone. Thank you for your cooperation!
