NHS Students and Families-

We are off to a fantastic start in the second semester of the school year! As we dive into this new chapter, the second semester offers students a wonderful opportunity to build on their success in year-long courses while also exploring fresh and exciting challenges in their semester-long classes.

February presents an excellent time for grade checks and reflection. This is a great opportunity to review your student’s progress by looking at their assignments, exams, and overall performance from January. By doing so, you can work together to create a clear and proactive plan to ensure they remain on track and set up for continued success this semester.

We encourage you to take the time to sit down with your student and review their grades in PowerSchool. This tool allows you to see detailed feedback and track their academic progress throughout the year. If you have any questions or concerns about their grades or any specific assignments, please don’t hesitate to reach out to their teachers. We are here to support both students and parents and are happy to provide any clarification needed.

Thank you for your continued involvement in your student’s education. Together, we can help them achieve their fullest potential this semester.

Warm regards,
The NHS Administrative Team

Student Council

This month’s student council appreciation went out to our bus drivers who work so hard especially during these cold winter months. Our hardy (and under-dressed) students braved the negative temperatures to hold signs, hand out coffee, hot chocolate, and doughnuts to our bus drivers as they dropped off students. A huge thank you goes out to them from Northridge High School student council.

Coming in February will be our annual Valentine’s Day cookie sale. Buy a delicious cookie and send a note to the person you love (or want to be friends with). Let them know you are thinking of them and that you care. Cookies can be bought at all lunches starting February 3rd.

Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, the nation’s longest-running, most prestigious recognition program for creative teens, has just released the 2025 Key and Honorable Mention awards. Student entries are blindly adjudicated by some of the foremost leaders in the visual and literary arts, with jurors looking for works that exemplify the Awards’ core values: originality, technical skill, and the emergence of personal voice or vision.

Culinary Classes

The Culinary Classes are participating in King Arther’s Bake for Good Program this month.  King Arthur Baking Company has a free outreach program for students.  The company has 3 goals: learn, bake, and share.  King Arther donated enough supplies that our students were able to make 2 loaves of bread, one to eat and one to share with someone in need.  NHS Culinary students were able to donate 30 fresh loaves of bread to the Middlebury Food Bank.
