Admin Announcements

NHS Students and Families-

As we approach the spring months, it’s essential to stay updated by regularly checking the NHS website, calendars, and social media accounts for important dates and announcements.

The first week of March brings SAT Day on March 6. On this day, all Juniors will be taking the SAT, while Freshmen and Sophomores will participate in the Ivy Tech Knowledge Assessment. Seniors will be engaged in career exploration activities. It is crucial that students arrive at school on time and ready for the day’s activities.

Seniors and families, please take a moment to review this month’s newsletter, as it contains several important dates and details that should be noted.

The stretch between March and Spring Break is a critical period for staying on top of grades. We encourage you to have conversations with your student about the steps they can take to finish the year strong.

Counseling Corner

Seniors! The Indiana FAFSA deadline is quickly approaching. InvestEd is scheduled to be here at Northridge on Thursday March 27th from 6-7:30PM.   They will do their Finalizing Financial Presentation and then starting at 6:30PM help students either file the FAFSA or review financial aid offers from those that have filed the FAFSA and have those offers already.  This is a great time to file the FAFSA which is required of all seniors.

9th grade parents—your students will be meeting with counselors over the next couple weeks to finalize their course selections for 10th grade. Please talk to your students about their plans and your expectations.

Counselors will be available during Parent Teacher Conferences on Thursday March 27th to answer any parent questions about scheduling for the 25-26 school year.

Education Pathways

Some of our Education Pathways students once again led JA in a Day—this time at Middlebury Elementary on Thursday, February 13. Collaborating with Junior Achievement has allowed our NHS students incredible opportunities to work with other MCS buildings to give NHS students interested in careers in education experience in the classroom while building life skills and financial literacy for elementary students.

High Ropes

Hanging 20+ feet above the floor in the Northridge HS fieldhouse, you will find the Physical Education High Ropes Challenge Course.  Completed in December of 2008, the 10 platform High Ropes Course has been a yearly component of the Freshman PE curriculum.  Students spend multiple classes learning course safety, procedures and belay techniques so that students can help each other up and down from the course.  Once on the course, students (who are in pairs), work together to navigate the course, choosing which obstacles they want to attempt.  The course is an activity where all students can be involved.  Those hungry for a challenge will try and tackle the course and those who prefer the ground can master belaying or find a support role as part of a belay group
