Admin Announcements

Happy Fall, Raiders!

It’s hard to believe we’re already in the fall months! As we approach the end of the first nine weeks, it’s an important time to connect with your students about their progress. Please take a moment to check their grades and discuss plans for the upcoming second nine weeks.

Our GPS program is in full swing, offering a great opportunity for students to receive help in areas where they may be struggling. This program runs every other day during school hours, so please encourage your student to take advantage of this valuable resource.

We’ve seen noticeable improvements in student parking and pick-up procedures. However, we still need to remind everyone to take their time when leaving the parking lot, adhere to end-of-day procedures, and follow all traffic laws. Your partnership in discussing safe driving with your child is greatly appreciated.

Lastly, a quick reminder: all home athletic events are free for students!

Thank you for your continued support, and have a wonderful fall season!

Drug Testing Policy

School Board Policy

5530.01 – STUDENT TESTING FOR DRUGS AND ALCOHOL

The Board is strongly committed to drug prevention education, to the creation of a safe environment and to provide a climate where all students can reach their potential.

The use of alcohol and drugs or controlled substances, synthetic or otherwise, presents a threat to the safety, health and welfare of both our employees and our students. Because of the risks associated with such abuse, the Board has implemented a student-testing program for drugs and alcohol.

Four (4) groups of students in grades 6-12 will be tested. Each group is defined as follows:

  1. All students that participate in extracurricular activities. Activities will include all athletic teams, music groups, academic competitions, clubs, and organizations. A full listing of activities will be provided. These students will be part of a pool of students that will be randomly selected for testing.

  2. All students who drive to school and park on school property. These students will also be part of the random pool.

  3. All students and staff who volunteer to be part of the random pool.

  4. All students for whom there is a reasonable suspicion of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol must submit to a mandatory test.

Counseling Corner

Counselors met with all seniors during the month of September to double check diploma requirements one last time and talk about future plans. Seniors are encouraged to reach out to their school counselor as they have questions about their plans for after high school.

Counselors will now shift their focus to 9th graders. We will present to all 9th grade GPS classes and then meet individually with each 9th grader. We will discuss diploma requirements and 4 year plans. Parents are invited to attend a meeting on Monday 10/21 at 6:30 pm, during Parent Teacher Conferences, to hear a matching presentation.
