December 2024

Dear OVE Families,

November ended on a high note at OVE!  Highlights included JA in a Day, 3rd Grade Grandparents/VIP Luncheon and our Balloon Parade!

Looking ahead, December promises to be just as eventful, with exciting activities for students and opportunities for parents/guardians to join the fun. Here are some highlights:

  • December 4th: PTO Family Fun Night (Cookies & Canvas) and Choir Performance

  • December 6th: Market Day (One of OVE's unique and treasured traditions)

  • December 12th: 2nd Grade Music Program

  • December 13th: Christmas Sing-Along & Kindergarten Gingerbread Day

  • December 16th: Family Swim Night

As I reflect on the dedication of our incredible faculty and staff, I am truly grateful to be part of this amazing school community. Their hard work ensures that the OVE experience offers both a solid academic foundation and unforgettable moments. Working in education is demanding, and the holiday season offers a wonderful opportunity to focus on what matters most—our relationships with students and families.

The new year will undoubtedly bring its share of challenges, which makes it all the more important to embrace the magic of the holiday season. For me personally, having my daughter as a third grader at OVE makes this time especially meaningful and serves as a reminder of how quickly time passes. I encourage everyone to cherish these moments with your loved ones and within our school community.

Thank you for your ongoing support and involvement. I hope your holiday season is filled with special moments and lasting memories!

Fly Eagles Fly,

Mr. Martin, Principal

Lesson Topics

State-Mandated Bullying Lessons

Body Safety and Abuse lessons began the week of 11/18. These state-mandated lessons are designed to arm children with the knowledge to handle potentially dangerous situations and develop the awareness of strategies that will allow them to know how to seek help if needed. Our initial lessons focused mostly on 5 Safety Rules and Identifying Safe Adults. A second lesson will take place in December. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mrs. Palmer at palmerl@mcsin-k12.org.

Thank you for your support!

Please make sure to send in snow gear with your child. If a student does not have snow boots/pants they will need to stay on the black top at recess. Please contact the office if you are needing assistance in providing your child with outdoor gear. We are happy to help!

Please make sure to communicate any medical conditions your child may have with our nurse. This also includes any medications that are taken at home.

If you would like to be notified of your child's nurse visits please sign up for a SchoolCare account. This can be found in your Parent PowerSchool account. If you need assistance with signing up, please contact our nurse!

Student Meal Accounts

OVE parents, did you know that you can easily deposit money into your student’s meal account? When you register with the Linq Connect website, you can make deposits, set up recurring deposits, OR just use the website to monitor what your child is purchasing in the OVE cafeteria. You can also set up notifications to let you know when your child’s balance is low. In addition, you can apply for free or reduced meals on the same website at any time during the school year. Go to linqconnect.com from any computer, tablet or mobile device and create a free account. There is also a mobile app available in the Google Play Store and Apple Store. If you have any questions, please feel free to call Gini Bennett, Bookkeeper, at 574-825-5094.
