Dear OVE Families,
Thank you to everyone who attended parent-teacher conferences! We are thrilled to share that over 95% of our students’ parents and guardians met face-to-face with our teachers. Educating your child is our top priority, and your involvement and dedication make a powerful difference in helping us achieve this goal.
In addition, we encourage regular and on-time attendance for all students. Whenever possible, please plan family vacations outside of our 180 instructional days. Predictability and consistency are vital for young learners, and it’s challenging for them to fully recover a missed day of instruction. The state’s goal is for students to attend at least 96% of school days each year, meaning they should be present for a minimum of 173 days. While we understand that illness can sometimes affect attendance—I’ve seen this with my own third and fifth grade children—let’s work together toward this goal to ensure each student’s success.
Switching gears, our third-grade students recently completed the pilot ILEARN checkpoint for Math and English/Language Arts. This assessment provides us with valuable real-time data that allows us to identify areas needing support before the April summative assessment. Two additional checkpoints are scheduled for later this year.
Looking ahead, we’re excited about several upcoming events:
OVE Spirit Wear Store: Available online from November 1st to November 17th. Find the link on our OVE Facebook page and school website, and look for flyers coming home. Orders will be delivered the week of December 9th.
PTO Book Fair: Runs from November 11th to 15th. Students will be able to visit the book fair during these days, and families are welcome to shop with their students on November 11th from 2:30–4:30 PM.

JA in a Day: November 25th.

Fly Eagles Fly,
Mr. Martin, Principal
