A note from Mr. Kominowski.....

We are so happy to welcome you back to school. We are excited to get to know many new students and families. As well as welcoming new faces to our York staff.

Don't forget to drop by the school on Wednesday, August 6th, anytime between 12 - 6 to pick up your 2025-2026 informational packets. These packets have forms to update and return as well as informative papers to keep regarding this next school year. Kindergarten families will visit their child's teacher and classroom during this time. Monday, August 11th, please plan on attending our back to school open house between 4:30 - 5:30. This is an opportunity to see your classroom and meet your teacher!

Just a few reminders to help our year start out well. Students should be in the classroom by 7:40 (8:05 on Wednesday), and will be dismissed by 2:00 every day. Being prompt is an important life skill. Let's teach them together.

Our staff has worked hard to make our school a place where your child can learn and grow. Let us know if there is anything we can do for your child to give them the best learning experience possible. In return, we ask that you make time for reading and homework every night. Let's make it a great year together!

Bus Transportation

Information on the transportation app will be provided in your registration packets. Please make sure your child's bussing information is correct. If you need to make any changes with your child (s) transportation please complete a new request form ASAP! Follow the link below to access the request change form:

End of the Day Changes

Any end of the day transportation changes need to be made by 1:45. You must contact the office, 574-825-5312, with those changes. Transportation notes are included with your registration packets. It is best if you are able to send in a note with your child in the morning. Thank you for your help!

Attendance/Tardy Calls

If your child will be absent for any reason a call to the office must be made in order for the absence to be considered excused.

Please also notify the office if your child will be late or will need to be released early for any reason.

This is tremendously helpful to the school office.

Cafeteria News...

LINQ connect is used to deposit lunch money electronically or apply for free/reduced lunches. An informational paper will be provided in the registration packet for all new families. Cash or a check, made out to York Elementary, will also still be accepted for lunch money deposits. Please make sure you send any money in an envelope or plastic bag and mark it with your child's name and labeled "Lunch Money". Please note the change in lunch pricing for this school year. Breakfast is $1.70 (reduced is $0.30), lunch is $2.60 (reduced is $0.40), and milk is $0.65.

Our cafeteria also offers a birthday treat option. Order forms can be requested through the school office. If you choose this option, please send in the order form and money at least one week before the celebration. If you are unsure how birthdays are celebrated in your child's classroom, please reach out to the teacher.

Visitors/Volunteers

York loves to see visitors and volunteers in our building. This year, any visitor that enters the building and leaves the office area for any reason, must have a volunteer background check on file. This is NOT the same process as scanning your driver's license. There is information on how to complete this check in your registration packet. This check is valid for one year. We would strongly encourage you to complete this online process in August, so you are covered for the entire year. Thank you for helping York be a safe place for everyone!

SS

Just a reminder that the office has denial of permission to publish forms. If you DO NOT want your child's name, photo, student work, or achievements published in corporation communications including the website or social media, you must complete and submit a Denial of Permission to Publish form. Please contact the office for more information.

York is excited to welcome a lot of new faces to our staff this year! In kindergarten, we have Miss Robinson and Miss Aguirre. In first grade, we have Miss Morrett. In second grade, we welcome Ms. Mathews and Mrs. Puckett. In our support staff, joining us is Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Payne. Welcome to York!!

Several areas of our building have been under construction this summer. Our cafeteria has been remodeled and is looking fantastic! Our gym is getting a much needed new floor, HVAC, paint and ceiling. Construction will still be finishing up after the school year has started. We ask for patience as we do our best to work around the construction areas and any inconveniences this may cause. The hope is everything will be completed by the end of August!
