A Note from Mr. Kominowski...
In our school, we recognize that the culture of our building and the character of our students is foundational to success. Fostering character is embedded in all aspects of the school day and permeates all academic work. York has developed a set of Habits of Scholarship to foster strong character within our school community. The York Habits of Scholarship are Responsibility, Integrity, Respect, and Grit. Some help us to become better people and others help us to become better scholars. Ask your child which habit they are focusing on!
We would like to extend a special, "Thank you!" to local churches, businesses, community members, and many of our families who through their generosity and kindness helped make this Christmas brighter for several of our families. We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Looking for a Christmas idea for your teacher or special York staff person? We have put together a binder that is kept in the office where all of our staff members have listed their favorite things. Two Hour Delays
If it becomes necessary to delay the opening of school due to inclement weather, the following procedures will be followed:
Bus Routes will run two hours later than usual. Students can be dropped off at 9:20AM and the school tardy bell will ring at 9:45 AM, even if the two hour delay is on a Wednesday.
Breakfast is served only to those who are unable to eat at home.
MCS will place a call and text message to your home updating you on school delays and closures. Please make sure the office has your most up to date information.

This is a reminder that all of our digital newsletters are archived on our Facebook page as well as our website on the newsfeed and announcements links. You can access any current or past newsletters at any time!
Recess
With the changing weather we appreciate your help in making sure your child dresses for the outside weather. We will go outside when the wind chill is at or above 16 degrees.
We are not able to keep your child indoors for recess for any reason without a doctor's note. The fresh air and exercise is so good for children and helps them focus better when back inside.
We have a few pair of donated boots and snow pants available. Please let the office know if you would like one of the pairs. 574-825-5312.

PTO News
York Auction: February 8th
We are busy preparing for this year's auction and can't wait to see you there! The auction has been a tradition at York for many years and we are so thankful for our volunteers that make this happen. If you own a business, know someone who does, or have an item your family would like to donate. Contact Sarah Borowski at 574-202-8547.
Our classroom teachers are also busy planning class baskets and classroom volunteers are working on class projects - look for a note from your student's teacher in December to see how you may be able to help them with these!
If you have a large basket, crate, or container in good condition that you would be willing to donate we will put it to good use! You may drop them off at the school office at your convenience.
