A note from Mr. Kominowski....
Can you believe we are just a couple weeks away from the end of the first quarter? We are still using the analogy of a CREW to help students understand that we all need to work together like people in a boat. If we want to do well, it takes all of us to keep the boat in a straight line and to get where we want to go. We are all here for one another and have the same goal of learning, but no one gets a free ride. That includes you (families) - you are a part of our CREW and we are grateful to have you in the boat working along with us.
Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on Monday, October 21st and Wednesday, October 23rd from 3-7:30. Report Cards will be sent home Monday, October 21st. They will also be available online through PowerSchool. Please send in your requested conference time sheet by Friday, October 4th.
Picture Retake Day
Picture retakes will be on Wednesday, October 23rd. We will be taking photos of students that were absent on the original picture day as well as those needing to retake their original photos. Ordering online is open using code : 86646KA at

Job Opportunities
Do you or someone you know love working with kids and are looking for a part-time job that works with the school calendar?
We have a couple of opportunities for you to join us at York! We currently have a 6.5 hour/day special ed assistant position open. You would be working with small groups or individual students in different classrooms throughout the day.
We are also in need of substitute teachers! You can chose when and where you want to work, so there is a lot of flexibility.

Counselor's Corner
As a school counselor, it is my goal to provide students with the skills and knowledge needed in order to become successful in school, within the community, and to be lifelong learners. The month of October the classroom lessons will focus on Bullying. For our Body Safety lessons in November, you received opt-out letters. Please complete and return those forms by October 14th ONLY if you WOULD NOT like your child to participate in the body safety lesson. For both the bullying and body safety lessons, I am using the Monique Burr Foundation curriculum. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with questions throughout the year.

Nurse's Notes
As the weather changes, please remember to dress your child appropriately, including hats and gloves.
When your child is ill or has an appointment, please remember to call the school office, 574-825-5312, to report the absence or notify if there will be a late arrival or early dismissal.
We have several clothing items that have been borrowed from the clinic and not returned. Please check your child's clothing and return items from the school. Thank you!
We would encourage you to supply an extra set of clothing in your child's backpack for those times when it may be needed.
Cafeteria News
The second week of October we will celebrate School Lunch Week with a fun competition. The class with the most students that purchase a school lunch that week will receive a movie and popsicle party the following Monday!
